THE SAKARI TRILOGY METHOD For Classical Guitar
"When You're Actually Ready To Improve Your Playing Ability"
DON'T FOLLOW THE CROWDS, THEY MAY BE OFF BASE A BIT
I attended a recital in Toronto 25 years ago. A well known Classical Guitarist was presenting a program of "Authentic Bach", learnedly researched apparently with some of the leading experts on the subject. The audience was a buzz to hear this new and relevant approach.
Halfway through the first piece on the program, I got up and walked out. I found it simply intolerable. I found myself in the Lobby, curiously alone, when another well known Guitarist emerged from the Restroom and asked me what I was doing alone in the Lobby while the performance was going on inside. I replied that I just couldn't stand to hear Bach mutilated in such an unfeeling, mechanical fashion and that I refused to sit there calmly and endure another note. The reply back to my rather shocking opinion was, "The Guitar World needs more of that sentiment and I think I'll sit out here with you !".
We had a lovely conversation for the duration and the experience remains one of the most enjoyable Recitals I've ever attended.
